Our Story

Welcome to our home!

Allow us to introduce ourselves.….

I am Ally and my partner is Jason. We moved to Deveron Valley Cottages from South Wales in June 2019.

It’s such a big learning curve and a complete change from our previous lives in Wales. I worked in a call centre for a bank and Jason was a master blacksmith. Although we lived in the Brecon Beacons National Park in the Swansea Valley surrounded by the beautiful Welsh countryside, we decided to opt for even more rural surroundings and Scotland seemed like a good idea. So we brought our dogs along and we are really enjoying life. In between looking after our guests, we like arts and crafts. You will either find us in the shed, in the garden, or out in the sunshine riding our motorbikes along the gorgeous coastal roads. Every day gives us something different and we hope you enjoy your holiday here as much as we love living here. We want your time here to be something memorable. Enjoy!

Our Moray Firth coastline with its famous dolphins is host to a selection of arguably the most beautiful villages in the country… Portsoy and Cullen to name but a few. They are also home to what has to be (in our opinion) the best ice-cream shop and fish and chips in the North East!

The area is also well known for its Castle and Whisky Trails, and some of the world’s best golf courses. Also a variety of country sports and the hauntingly beautiful Cabrach region, with skiing less than an hour’s drive. And if you are a driving/riding fan we can recommend the fantastic scenery of the North East 250. Also read our guide to the many Stone Circles in the area, written and very kindly sent to us by one of our guests!

Deveron Valley Cottages provide Self Catering Accommodation, including two picturesque Log Cabins. We are on the edge of the Grampian Hills, less than one hour from Aberdeen Airport, in the midst of the Whisky and Castle Trails. Our standards are amongst the best in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

There are lots of things to do nearby, including walking, golfing, salmon and trout fishing, skiing in the Highlands and surfing the waves of Scotland’s sandy beaches at Sandend and Banff. You can also visit unspoilt fishing villages like Crovie, Pennan, Gardenstown, Portsoy and Cullen.

Our properties are ideal to use as your base to experience the latest big thing to hit this part of Scotland… “The North East 250“.

Big events in the area include Fochabers Speyfest, Dufftown Whisky Festivals, Portsoy Boat Festival, Turriff Show, Keith Show and various local highland games.
